
SAPREF Island View Marine Terminal
South African Petroleum Refineries (SAPREF) was once a largest Crude Oil Refinery in the Southern Hemisphere from 1963 to 2022 based in Durban, Prospecton area in KwaZulu Natal. The business strategy changed in 2022 when its Shareholders decided to stop the refining operation and rather move into a full Import Terminal after the Refinery assets were sold.
SAPREF base moved to Island View Terminal Precinct where the focus now is on pipelines, Tanks and Jetty Operations. With the capacity of 525,000 m3 of storage capacity, SAPREF receives and distributes over 5 billion litres of liquid full per year via road and rail gantries and as well as the New Multi-Product Pipeline (NMPP) which connects inland to coastal. The products that SAPREF receives and distributes include MOGAS, Diesel, Kerosene, Jet, Avgas, Very-Low Sulphur Fuel Oil and High Sulphur Fuel Oil.
