Health, Safety and Environmental Policy  

 

     
 
As a refiner of petroleum products, our vision is to manage our activities, products and services in a manner that reduces potentially adverse impacts on Health, Safety, Security and the Environment. As “Team SAPREF” we all have the responsibility for the best possible HSSE performance.
  
     

Our goals are:

  • No accidents, no harm to people, protect the environment
  • Compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and with our shareholders' standards
  • Continual improvement of our HSE management system.

Our principles are:

  • All staff and contractors on the Refinery, Island View, JBS and SBM will be involved in promoting HSSE performance within their own activities, and will be provided with the means to do so.
  • A systematic approach to HSSE management will be used to align our activities, to set annual targets, and to report progress
  • We will identify HSSE critical operations and installations, and act to reduce significant risks and impacts to as low as reasonably practicable.
  • All contractors manage their HSSE performance in line with this policy and are measured against their HSSE plans.
  • Our staff and contractors will be required to comply with SAPREF’s Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Policy and Standards, and we will promote these values with our customers, suppliers and neighbours.
  • We will monitor, audit and review the HSSE performance of our operations and activities against identified internationally accepted HSSE management standards.
  • HSSE performance will be included in our staff and contractor appraisal and recognition schemes.
  • We will maintain open and transparent relations with employees, relevant authorities and the community, seeking constructive partnerships in meeting our HSSE challenges, and in uplifting the standards of our industry.

If you see an unsafe act or situation that could negatively impact on the Health, Safety, Security and/or the Environment- then please intervene. Never look the other way, because you may regret it for the rest of your life.
