SAPREF's property incorporates one
of the highest natural dunes on the KwaZulu-Natal coast
which contains some of the original dune forest. The dune
is home to a variety of indigenous plant and animal species.
In recent years SAPREF has, with the help of horticulturalist
Richard Winn, planted about 200 000 indigenous plants to
rehabilitate previously damaged sections of the dune. A
nursery was established at the refinery specifically for
this purpose. We are committed to continuing the rehabilitation
of the dune.
